What a great night tonight in THP Students! We had a great night of laughter, worship and prayer! Tonight we wrapped up our series on what it means to be Salt and Light!

Matthew 6:19-24
Here, Jesus is instructing people to be mindful of what they focus on. There is nothing inherently wrong with having money or making a lot of it. Other places in the scriptures make it clear that we need to be good stewards of what we have. But what he’s saying is not to put the possession of money and the goal of making money higher than our devotion to God. What we focus on consumes us.
Principle 9 – People who are Salt and Light have their focus on God and God alone. While they are good stewards of what they have, they are not selfish.
Matthew 6:25-34
One reason so many focus on money, as in the last passage, is the anxiety of provision. But as they seek money, they become consumed by it. Here Jesus points out how God provides for wildlife all the time, and we are more important to him than those things. This doesn’t mean we check out and are lazy, but it means as we trust in God, and do what God tells us to do; He will provide for our needs.
Principle 10 – People who are salt and light aren’t constantly fretting over what’s going to happen tomorrow. They remain focused on serving Jesus and don’t allow their anxiety to override their faith in Him.
Matthew 7:1-6
Here, Jesus is warning his disciples not to be judgmental in their attitude towards others. THIS IS NOT a command to never call out sin or wrong things. But it is a call to do it with grace. But he also warns them to be wise about whom they bring correction to. Some are “dogs” or “pigs.” Scholars believe this refers to people who are so hardened by the world that they are scornful of the gospel. Not to say we shouldn’t preach the gospel, but use wisdom when you do so, knowing the situation and season.
Principle 11 – People who are salt and light preach the gospel, point out sin, with grace, humility, and wisdom.
